The Six-Month Move Planner

The Six-Month Move Planner · Way Back Home

Leaving well, and landing well

Way Back Home

You can get the big questions right, the job, the money, the school, and still spend your first year exhausted and quietly furious. Not because you decided wrong, but because a life here has to be actively operated, and the manual you arrive with was written for a different country.

This planner asks seven questions and lays out what to do across the months either side of the move. It covers leaving the country you are in as well as landing in this one, because the leaving is where the legal and financial consequences sit, and it is the half most checklists skip.

Everything is ordered by lead time rather than urgency, so the things that take months get started early instead of discovered late. It also names the people to find, because almost every problem in the first year is eventually solved by somebody who does that one thing all day.

About five minutes.
